When you buy a new classical guitar, you re-work an old song and put it to tape just to see how it sounds. I wrote 'Odd Kind' several years ago on a long walk, singing each line into a voice memo as I got inspired. It's taken several shapes, but this is my favorite so far.

You weren't exactly attracted to me
Oh, but you're falling in line
Don't really know what you saw
But you wasted no time
We were an odd kind of pair
People would stop and stare

They always told me I wasn't a catch
But I paid them no mind
'Cause you caught my eye
And I realized there was not the time
I was so right not to care
When you held my hand at the county fair

I caught you staring with no alibi
Was it my hair or my alibi
Were you just looking for someone to marry
I musn't tarry

People were wondering what happened
And if mother nature was laughing
When you took my heart and you told me
'Til death do us part
With you in my arms I don't care
People can stop and stare.
